The Men of Distinction series is an on-going conversation with men who create, explore, advocate and inspire. In this week’s edition, we sit down with Paul Hutchinson, Founder of HypeType, a UK born (now LA based) graphic design studio.

What do you love about what you do?

 

I love the fact that it never feels like work. The variety in projects always keeps things interesting.

 

What inspires you about the city you live in?
Los Angeles — The variety, the people, the waves, the weather.
Album of the year (so far)?
Been listening to a lot of 90’s hip hop (still) and 80’s.

Favorite film or book of all time?
Blade Runner.

 

What makes someone a man of distinction to you?

 

 

 

Someone who is well mannered, well behaved, honest, moral and brave. A man with the courage of his convictions. A man who would go out of his way to help someone regardless of whether they were rich or poor. He probably lived in the last century. Sadly, today he is probably defined as someone who looks good, is wealthy and well dressed.
Some men that you believe are Men of Distinction?
My Grandad.

 

What’s the most essential piece of your grooming routine that you wouldn’t go without?
Moisturizer, for face and hair in one hit.
