Earlier this season Brandon Roy was told he might never play basketball again. While he did make it back onto the court, surgeons discerned that his knee would only last for 1 to 2 more years in the NBA and that this new lifespan was only possible should Roy come off the bench playing limited minutes. For Brandon Roy, a three time all-star and the winner of the 2007 Rookie of the Year award, this news was devastating.
But this past Saturday, with the Blazers down 23, Roy scored 18 points on 8-9 for nine shooting to rally his team and his beloved fans back from an impossible deficit. Sadly, this epic comeback might have bee Brandon Roy’s last moment in the sun.
Anyway, enough with the sentimental crap. The Mavericks completely blew this game. I mean, they really choked. Jason Kidd had a wide open three to give the Mavs a lead with 30-seconds to go. Unfortunately, right as Kidd shot the ball he morphed into the lousy Rec Basketball player who just chucks the ball at the rim. If you played Rec Basketball and you do not know the kid I’m talking about…it was you.
If the Mavericks want to be a contender they need to learn how to finish. That means get the ball to Dirk. Game 5 is this Monday.
